How to Keep Your Glasses From Fogging While Wearing a Face Mask
It can be frustrating and difficult to work when eyeglass lenses are fogging from wearing a face mask. Fog on lenses builds up more when moving from cool to warm temperatures. Keeping room temperature slightly warmer can help keep lenses warmer to avoid this reaction indoors.
If you can’t control the temperature or are experiencing fogging regularly here are some things you can do.
- Keep lenses clean. The cleaner they are the less fog builds up. Clean lenses with a lotion-free dishsoap, rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth. Bonus this also removes germs. Keep a microfiber cloth handy for quick touch-ups during the day. This method can also be used on face shields that are fogging up.
- Choose a mask with a well-forming nose piece. Metal nose pieces and extended nose pieces give the best results. Quantum’s line of Perfetta Face Masks feature an extra-long malleable metal nose piece.
- Use your eyeglasses to your advantage. Place your glasses over the bridge of your mask for an extra tight fit.
- Set it and forget it. Use medical tape to tape your mask down to your face. This is a dedicated way to ensure almost no condensation will escape through the top of your mask.
Try these tips to be more comfortable wearing face masks and other PPE with eyeglasses.
